Android uses the english alpahabets as the initials for their versions. Not only that, the name of the versions are also the names of the sweat treats including Cupcake, Donut, Eclair, Froyo, Gingerbread, Honeycomb, Ice Cream Sandwich, and Jelly Bean.
The series till ‘J’ is complete, and now it’s time for ‘K’. Android is going to name it’s next version (4.4) as ‘Kit-Kat’.
Android officials said that ‘Kit-Kat’ has been the favorite candy of the team for long, so they asked the company if they were willing to lend their name to which nestle agreed.
As part of the deal, Android has replaced their green mascot to a ‘Kit-Kat’ themed mascot. Also, Nestle will soon be launching a limited edition ‘Kit-Kat’ bar, a few having a winning ticket for Google’s new Nexus 7 and many having Google store credits. The rumors are that Android will be releasing the ‘Kit-Kat’ in the end of October.
Android powers over one billion devices of which 40.5% are running on Jelly Bean presently. With the release of ‘Kit-Kat’, Android is looking forward to increase it to 50%.
